I got up to 505. Started getting ready 6 months ago. Was staying at 468. When I went on the liquid diet I lost 15 pounds. Had the surgery on the 12th of October. Weighed 453. As of November 9th I've lost to 420. My journey is at 75 pounds so far. Hoping to be at 250 within a year. I was a bulk eater don't care for sweets. This is the best thing ever. I'm losing a pound a day with no hunger. It's great. Haven't found anything I can't eat yet except pork. And milk makes me gassy. I go back to work Monday as an OTR truck driver. And figure I'll live on chicken and slim fast shakes. Lolpost-305647-14789320759795_thumb.jpg

You should stock up on premeir rather than slimfast. Get a costco/sams club card so you can by when on the road.

Slimfast has improved on their Protein now. I used Premier Protein before for 2 weeks and then 4 weeks after, the sad thing is if you are having a hard time with milk they are really bad for gas and the back door trots. You may have become Lactose Intolerant. I sure did. I had the back door trots so bad!! With you being a truck driver (my hubby did long haul and log truck driving for years) You sure can't afford to need a bathroom!! RIGHT

Thanks for the premier advice will get them. I have bad knees. And am walking as much as I can. As the pounds come off I figure it will get easier

I need knee replacements in both knees. Which will happen when I lose weight enough for the doc to perform.

Good luck and were all proud of you!

Premiere shakes are NOT your best choice for this early out.

I do NOT do milk based shakes either... Get some Syntrax or powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury if possible- like the chicken broth and DEFINITELY get some UNFLAVORED whey Protein powder. You can add it to anything- yogurt, crystal light drinks- sky is the limit....

But you want and NEED a good 100% PURE whey Protein ISOLATE powder. It is your best bet for success. Those "protein blend" drinks are suspect. You don't know what percentage of what kind of protein you are actually getting.

I WISH they would stop recommending Premiere to people!!!!!!

LisaMergs, I do not like Premiere Protein drinks. If you are Lactose Intolerant which happens to many people after their WLS, it will play havoc with them. It was what my Surgeon recommended when I had my RNY. Let me say I had back door trots so bad I couldn't even leave the house without a pad on!! Finally after I was almost finished with my Postop (I did a total of 6 weeks on it) my Dr. told me to try something else because I was Lactose Intolerant!! WOW!! Thanks a lot!

If I'm doing a shake powder, it is usually the Syntrax Nectars. I've come to like caribbean cooler as its flavor is very mellow- just above neutral. I always add a half scoop of an unflavored powder to it, as well. Brings those 8 oz up to around 35g of whey isolate.

There is a RTD product called Protein2O that I love as well. Over 20g whey isolate in it as well. Flavors are EXCELLENT!!! And no whey -forward taste at all. Pretty clean flavors. Again, no milk to it which I prefer.

As for the unflavored...I really like Unjury, but it needs to be ordered, so I keep a stash of other brands at home to use if I run out.

I add it to anything I can- usually by the half- scoop. Works well in my Oikos Triple Zero yogurt!!! I'll add it to coffee, tea, you name it.

Hope that helps!!!

It does! Thank you. One more question...is there one site where I can purchase samples first instead of buying in bulk? I would hate to be stuck with it if the taste wasn't for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
