How did you feel 3 days post-op?

Recommended Posts

I'm schedule for my sleeve on 12/22. Yay! I know everyone is different in how they heal, but I was wondering the likelihood of feeling well enough to leave the house and go over to my parents on Christmas? My husband would be driving me. Thanks!

I was feeling more like myself than not 3 days out. I was on no pain meds. It was most difficult to get in and out of bed. Otherwise, I was fine.

I had surgery on Friday morning. Saturday I was off of pain IV, walking around, in general feeling good. ON Sunday I flew home (i had my surgery in Mexico). On Monday I woke up, went to the grocery store, picked up my parents as they had come into town to visit. We hung out all day, I showed them around town.

Around 8:00 I was DONE. I was starting to feel sore, so I took a pain pill and went to bed. But during the day I felt good, I had no complications and moved around very well. I was hopping up and down stairs it used to take me at least a minute to gear myself to climb.

I was pretty sore on pain meds still, couldn't poop but had lots of energy so went to the store and walked daily so was doing well enough for minor activities but not in the mood for talking. Had to take frequent naps

3rd day was miserable for me. But, I'm a big baby. I couldn't bend over, sleep for longer than 2 hrs and everything I tried to do was super difficult. I needed help getting up and down and in and out. Today is one week and I'm finally starting to feel normal.

Today is my third day post op. I feel much better. I don't take pain medicine unless necessary. I would say the sleeping is the most difficult I only sleep 2 hours at a time. I had a bowel movement this morning and flatulence thi evening. I still can't bend over but I know it's all in due time

I had surgery on Halloween. I would say 3 days post op I was not in pain but felt very sore (to me it feels like you have done a thousand sit ups) I slept fine at night, I took a nap every afternoon for the first week or so.

I would definitely go to a family member's home 3 days out. I would rest on the couch and not help at all. You can't lift much for 6 weeks (most people say not to lift over 15 pounds, my doctor says 10 pounds so I don't even lift a gallon of milk). If I needed to I would either go home or go to a bedroom and nap in the afternoon.

I'd have gone to visit family on day 3 post-op...I was tired and still taking oral pain/nausea meds, but felt pretty good and was walking a mile at a time already. Just take what you need to consume (broth, Protein drinks/shakes, etc) and don't overdo it helping out with things.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
