Just wondering, do you have much pain from gas? I haven't had surgery yet, but from everything I've read, just sip, sip, sip and make sure you are getting in your Protein and Water and that helps they say.

Actually right after surgery I was fine not much pain at all just uncomfortable and some pressure. walking definitely helps burping also. Now I'm home and I think the nerve block is wearing off so it's a little more uncomfortable but it's nothing horrible and I'm kind of a big baby when it comes to pain

Sounds like your doing great, I've heard people were in pain for the 1st week, then it gets much better.

Idk if all surgeons do a nerve block but I would def say it's a great way to stop the pain it will fade gradually and then completely after 90 hours that's what my surgeon said .

I had lots of gas in stomach but walking helps a lot. I didn't have any pain the first week. The second week wasn't pain but you can feel your stomach muscles rebuilding. It feels like if you do too many crunches. When my stomach muscles were sore (but not painfull) I also it felt in between my shoulder blades. It could have been gas too. If you don't have a heating pad, get one. I would lay on it and it soothed my back which helped my stomach. Or stand in a hot shower and let Water hit your back. The heat helps. It did for me.

Hello everyone I am new to this site, I recently just had the lap band done on November the 8th, while I was in surgery they had to remove a hernia and I have a horrible chest pain anyone else, I had the nerve block and it was great for the first 2 days , I haven't been very hungry at all.

I had my surgery on 11/8 at noon, so today is 3 day post op and I have moved on from all Clear liquids to some Proteins. Honestly I feel like the pain was less than that of the band, I specifically remember having trouble getting in and out of bed. However, the pain in my belly is like a combination of gas pain, pain and nausea. It's better today, although I get these cramps and pains after slowing sipping some liquids.

I did have what was called a "tap" which is probably the nerve block.

Just thinking positive - each day will get better.

My best advice to you is to follow your plan. As you start to feel better, you may be tempted to rush your diet advancement, but remember that you have a fresh line of staples along the length of your stomach and you'll *feel* better long before that staple line is completely healed. Keep up with your fluids, walk as much as you can and follow your surgeon's instructions.

I totally with the above. The best thing you can do is follow your plan. Cal, your doc if you have any medical concerns, stay hydrated and work on Protein . It is all very doable!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
