Gastric sleeve Nov 7

Recommended Posts

I also had my surgery on the 7th. I am on semi liquid diet which includes yogurts, protien shakes, and puddings. Still getting stomach spasms here and there but the meds help. Also feel some pain in my chest/high stomach area at times, but I am pretty sure that is still some gas stuck in there. It's right where your ribs connect. Also still feeling alot of pain in my one incision. Thought this would be more like having a cesarean, but man was I wrong. Lol

I've had hunger headaches but little head hunger. Only today did I experience wanting to eat things I couldnt. Though, it sort of is back. Just trying to focus on the fact that eventually the feeling will pass.

Thought of the day is I just got hiccups for this first time this afternoon. And holy Sh*t. I almost went into the damn light guys. Abdominal muscles are used in just about everything... Being fat- who would've thought it.

I was honestly scared to death I was going to damage myself drinking too fast. I have a 64oz Water bottle I ordered and I small cup I marked at the 4oz line. I make sure my cup is always full and I'm able to get around 66 oz a day. Just sipping my life away lol. I got afraid in the forums that I was going to be sent to the hospital for dehydration. So I made sure that's the first priority.

I had psyched myself out way more than I needed to. I had surgery on 11/3. Everything is going great! Incisions are almost healed. I have the slightest bit of muscle pain on the "big incision" side. I'm eating and drinking right at the minimum. The most difficult thing for me is all this tracking whether it be the Vitamins or "meal" or fluids or Protein. I honestly feel like if I'm awake I've got something in my mouth. I started full liquids yesterday. It's super boring. sugar free pudding, milk, creamed Soups, etc. I'd rather drink Protein shakes, if I'm being honest. I haven't felt true hunger yet and I don't ever want to again. I've lost 2 pounds. I can't say this is the "best decision I've ever made"...yet.

I too was Nov 7th sleever. My first day after surgery made me feel like I'd made a big mistake. I have Fibro myalgia and all of the needle sights absolutely stung. I got the sleeve done hoping that the weight control would help my pain control. It's going to be an interesting ride. I am enjoying the recipes and practical advice from the "Nutrition for Weight Loss Surgery" book that my dietician recommended. Also found a nice thick and creamy Protein shake by Giant Sports called Delicious Protein powder Elite. I have no problem drinking enough Water, shaved ice goes down well as a change from sipping it and I pretend that the ice is an iced coffee, the taste isn't the same but at least I'm being creative and staying hydrated.

Is so difficult to have a health issue while going thru surgery...I understand you I am also diabetic and it has been a little bit more rough that just only having gastric sleeve I hope our decision will make us healthier and let's keep going so one day we look at this and say Yes it was all worth it...

It will be! Think of yourself just like a baby coming out of your mama's womb. You would never hand that baby a steak or all these chemicals in this fake food. We want to get into real

food, albeit blended up in a ninja, as soon as possible. Making old fashion cream of wheat or maltomeal with I sweated almond milk (to make your own, 1 cup almonds, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 4 cups Water in a Quisinart for 3-4 min, strain) old fashion egg custard (hasty pudding-from YANKEE Doodle) with real vanilla bean or lime or lemon juice. You can add a Protein scoop, stevia or just extra egg white for a Protein boost. Real food -hidden nutrients. Also, since we eat so little, invest in organic now.

Hi Roxy, I too had my surgery on Nov. 7th. I am happy to say I feel better everyday. I ate nothing for the first 3 days because anything I even thought about ingesting made me very nauseous. On day 4 I finally started with a Protein shake. My problem is, when I "eat" my stomach feels as though it's "grinding" for lack of a better word. Does anyone have any words of wisdom?? I am so excited about this journey and want to be as successful as possible.

Good morning I think sipping on warm Water or even tea will help you a little bit as far as me at the beginning my esophagus felt like a chain of spikes and I felt every movement going down and with the gas it was not helping at all...but just sip sip sip and if a certain liquid doesn't help try something else but drink slowly

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
