When I was in the hospital I asked for pain meds, by the time I was discharged I had no pain. I wouldn't hesitate to ask them for something to make you comfortable.

Hating life so much pain, how did anyone get through this process

Sent from my QMV7B using the BariatricPal App

I had a full gastric bypass and though I had some discomfort right after the surgery, I didn't find it too bad. I think it depends on your pain tolerance. I tend to have a high tolerance, but don't worry, you're probably dealing with muscle spasms in the surgery areas. It was so much better the day after surgery and I only had to spend one night in the hospital. Within a couple of days, I didn't even need the small amount of morphine they gave me to go home with. It's all going to be worth it!!

I felt awful the 1st day post op. But I told them I'm not taking anymore pain meds.. I starting feeling better the pain meds made me sick and feel so not normal. I'm on day 3 and I'm home was able to shower and I slept on my side last night for the first tiime.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
