I found that my body got used to the liquid diet after the first week and then it wasn't as bad. I drank my shakes at the same time every day and it became a routine.

I promise it is much better after surgery. Your appetite will be right in line with your ability to eat.

Good luck!

I'm on day three... I'm emotional. Cried about manicotti last night I don't even care for it. I see the surgeon tomorrow for pre op appointment. Best of luck and prayers to all my porky comrades.

I'm on day 6 of clear liquid diet. Sleeve Surgery is on Friday! There's been some rough moments, but I've toughed it out and all I can say is Protein shakes and organic BONE BROTH!!! The sugar free Jello popsicles are a life saver. Cold, crunchy and sweet gives you the sense of eating. I've lost 15 pounds in the last 7 weeks. But most of it was this week. Ready to get this done! Good luck everyone

I'm ending day 2 of 14. Looking towards the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm only allowed liquids. I'm drinking Premier Protein for bfk and dinner and broth with genpro for lunch. My doctor directed me to stay within 400-600 cal and 70 grams of Protein. I'm drinking 80-100 ounces of Water. As stated above the sugar free popsicles have been a nice addition. I lost 3 1/2 lbs after the first day. I've always been told the first 10lbs is Water weight and it comes off quickly. My surgery date is November 22nd. I'm excited and impatient.

I only had to do one week of liquids pre-op and it was definitely the hardest thing so far, for me anyway. I am 9 weeks post-op today. The hunger will definitely get better. Hang in there and good luck to you. ☺

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
