Hair loss prevention

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm newly sleeved and I read a lot of the threads for advice and many many folks have reported hair loss due to nutritional changes. My hair grew really thick three years ago when I took prenatal Vitamins and my hormones were different while I was pregnant. I'm sure weight loss causes a shift in hormones too. Any suggestions on something I can take to help my hair stay in my head, and/or keep it strong? I can't take the prenatal they're horse pills! Thanks!

You can make sure you take your Vitamins and monitor your Protein. Couldn't hurt.

My doctor says take your Vitamins and get your Protein in. But some people do everything right and still lose hair. It grows back.

I've taken my Vitamins perfectly and been good on Protein since week one, and I'm losing hair now three months out. Trying to remember that it comes back, but it's a bit startling how much comes out. I think surgeons seem to tell patients it won't be a problem if they do everything "right", and I don't think that's fair. Better to prepare you for the possibility since it seems to happen to the majority.

I've followed my food, Protein and Vitamin guidelines precisely and my hair started falling out about a month ago, at about 3 1/2 months out. I have very thick hair and it's down to about what a normal person has and it's still coming out. I've taken Biotin religiously since about 3 mos pre-op and it doesn't seem to have helped a bit. I will say that I've NEVER heard of anyone growing a beard from Biotin.< /p>

I'm shampooing less often and haven't gotten a Brazilian Blowout since it started shedding, to try to avoid any extra stress. It will stop falling out at some point, and if not, there are some awesome wigs out there...I can finally have the long, straight, fine hair I've always wanted, even if just for a while :) In the grand scheme of things, Hair loss isn't that important, IMO. I'm off blood pressure meds and down almost 65 lbs...that's what's important!

Yes! Before the surgery, I had thin hair and had been taking materna for about 3 months. I noticed lots of baby hair growing which got me excited. I went through with the surgery and totally forgot about materna. I tried different kinds of chewable multi Vitamins, Biotin and Vitamin d. I took 4000 mcgs of Biotin for 6 months and 4 Multivitamins every day for six months. It did not stop my Hair loss or anything. My nails are stronger but nothing for my hair and I am always feeling weak when I am moving around through out the day. This is the second week since I have started materna again and I am feeling very energized. I take one at night and one in the morning. I am very very excited and wish something has clicked in my mind earlier.

I don't think you can really prevent it, it either happens or doesn't.

I found hair thickening Shampoo really helped making it look better, that and keeping my hair in a short bob. I did take Biotin and not sure if its worth getting that horse pill down every day but I didn't think it would do any harm to try.

My hair is now growing as normal, 15 months out. Having skin surgery January and I bet it falls out again

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
