Multivitamins with no Iodine

Recommended Posts

Hey there everyone. So I feel like I may be alone in the world right now because there are no Multivitamins that have all the required levels of Vitamins for a gastric sleeve patient who is allergic to Iodine. I really want drink the least amount a pills a day but it seems impossible at this point. Someone with an Iodine allergy please tell me what you drink and how often. The Vitamin requirements that my doctor is asking for is the following:

Calcium - 1200 mg

Vitamin D - 3000 IU

Iron - 45-60 mg

B-complex (including Thiamine B1 - 100 mg) - 50-100 mg

B12 - 350-500 mcg

The vitamin is preferred in chewable form so that the body absorbs the vitamins faster and go directly into the blood stream.

Since no one replied to me I just wanted to give a quick update:

I am finally drinking all of the Vitamins I need to be drinking daily. I know I can't possibly be the only human being with a gastric sleeve that's allergic to iodine, so for those who are below is a picture of the Vitamins that a sleeve patients needs to drink for life:

Bariatric Advantage makes one that does not have iodine called "essentials" however it does not have Iron in it anymore either. They did away with the "Essentials Vitamin with iron" due to problems in storage with it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
