Darn it! I have to wait 3 more months!

Recommended Posts

Second surgeon consult and my insurance rules changed! Lucky me now I have to wait 3 more months. She said she will try and submit it now and see what happens, but most likely I'm looking at Feb/March

Oh, this must be disappointing and frustrating.

I had to wait 9 months for my surgery. Instead of being sleeved last July 2015, I finally got sleeved March 2016.

My Surgeon's Endo found out I had Graves Disease (hyper-thyroid), and that had to be addressed first.

It took 9 months of thyroid treatments for it to be stabilised enough for this surgery.

Funny enough, the waiting time went really fast for me.

Hope yours goes quickly too!

I figure I was fat for 10 years going up and down... other that wanting what I want when I want it... really, what difference would 6months make.

Well these 3 months flew by, so hopefully the next 3 do! I had all my appointments though so that may be why the past 3 months seemed busy. Now I just have the NUT appt each month. Oh well! Everything happens for a reason. My time will come!

Goin told me they was goin to stop taking my insurance on the first of the year so I had to find some place else and start all over. Now I only have 2 appointments left and I hope it's worth the wait and all the hard work.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
