It's funny, when I lived up north, it didn't affect me this way, at least not until it got way below 0 degrees. But now, I don't have the clothing that I had back there for keeping warm, and the houses aren't near as insulated as they are up there. I think since I have lost weight, I have lost a lot of my insulation too, and now I am always cold. I certainly don't miss that stepping outside and my nostrils freezing, or my cheeks red from the cold. I don't miss stepping outside and falling because there was ice under that spot. I don't miss 6 months of cold weather. Nope, I don't miss it at all. I will deal with the storms etc. but send me back my warm weather! lol Isn't it funny how we each like the different climates? I never thought I could get use to the really hot weather, but now I can't take the cold. Go figure!

~c~ I hope you don't feeze too bad!

It warmed up here with the rain, so it's much better. I am cold all the time, too. Half the clothes I bought recently were sweaters and coats. :)

Sorry you guys are so cold. Stay inside and bundle up.

My brother from LA is coming to Chicago on Friday, and I don't know how he'll cope. (It's about 15 degrees F today, wind chill -2.) One good thing about the cold -- it's a motivation to walk faster!

Doesnt matter where I am in what state or city or region..one thing I have noticed since I have lost this 72 lbs is that I am cold and real cold..all the time! Not as much fat to cushion my bones I guess. Anyone else notice this? I sleep with socks, sweats, sweatshirt, electric balnket and comforter and I live in Southern California for goodness sakes :)

YES, Michelle!! I have always been so hot-natured. I don't even have a decent heavy coat, never wore one for years. But now I get chilled to the bone. For meanness, I put my cold feet up against my husband in bed and freeze him out. LOL So maybe this means we will be able to tolerate the hot summers ahead of us better too. (Hope! Hope!)

I never realized that alot of us are cold! I had to laugh when i read the cold feet on the hubby!! and the finger tips too(on his extra warm back!!extra mean!! :) )

I too never had a good coat, mostly just worn a sweater vest.but now....today i have an undershirt on,a wollen turtle neck sweater AND a big sweatshirt on...my fingers MIGHT defrost later!

This morning though when i got up,the sky was blue with a bright pink horizon. The sun is shinning even though is -30 this am.There is 1 foot of snow on the pine trees near my home. When i opened the door my breath caught, not from the cold but by the amazing beauty. The sun lighting the snow covered pine trees which were backdropped by that pink sky...the snow looks all pink and blue...you need to see it to beleive how incredibly breath taking it is(i wish i had Ryan's way with words to make you guys see it in writting, ya know?)

I though of you guys this morning when i saw the sky...

That sounds so beautiful! Snow is beautiful especially when it just snows. I remember those -30 degrees well! I think I would die if I had to go through them now though! lol

I too freeze all the time now. I have a blanket by my chair and cover up every night while watching t.v.

Marie I laughed when you said that about your feet, I do the same thing to my hubby. He is like an oven, and I put everything I have cold against him.

Darcy - I can relate to a lot of that!

It is 25 this morning and I am bundled up as good as I can. I got rid of all my big winter coats when I moved here. We just don't have enough cold weather to store that kind of clothes. I will be glad when it is gone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
