How Did You Handle Food Cravings?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 5 weeks post op and I'm starting to crave my favorite place... CHIPOTLE. I really just want a chicken burrito bowl with double Beans and green salsa. I'm sooooooo tired of these Premier Protein drinks and eggs and chocolate milk... I need other options for food and need to fight my cravings! Help!

What phase are you in? The puree phase allows foods like refried Beans, yoghurt, hummus, ricotta bake and mkre. Once you are on solid foods you can have that bowl but leave out the rice if there is any. The thing is though, yo will likely only be able to have a few bites and it may not be as enjoyable as you remember.

For me, when I was able to have some favorites again, I was like "hmmm, not like I remember. Not sure I like this anymore."

It's weird... Im in the last stage of advanced soft foods, but still can have ground, chopped, and diced lean meats and poultry, soft cooked non fibrous vegetables, crackers, and Beans, etc as long as I chew chew chew.....so I'm kinda confused as what's different between the stage I'm in now and actual solid foods...

Oh and I totally expect one bowl to last me like 5-6 meals... Oh the joys of our sleeves! ???? ???? ???? ????

The lines of the stages are a little blurred. For me when I got to full solids, I added some more veggies, pork, grilled chicken, beef other than ground, and denser fruit.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
