Recommended Posts

Next week I get the ok for mushy purée foods. I have an idea of some of the things I will incorporate into my diet. I am really excited to avocado mushed of course. But can anyone tell me what they ate is there purée stage. :)

a lot of nonfat greek yogurt - just make sure it doesn't have fruit bits in it.

refried Beans with a little cheese melted on it

tuna, chicken, or salmon (the flavored pouches of tuna and salmon are great for this) pureed with a tablespoon or so of plain nonfat greek yogurt.

ricotta bake (the recipe is on the blog "the world according to eggface" - she also has a whole post dedicated to what to have on the puree phase, and later when cleared for "all food" she does posts called "A day in my pouch")

Since you like avocados, I really loved baking them with parmesan and mozzarella cheese on top with paprika and garlic salt with a splash of lime.

Another favorite of mine was various crock pot mushies like I'd put black Beans, enchilada sauce, cheese, onion, and jalapeno with cumin, cayenne pepper, garlic salt... Etc, let it cook in the crock pot for a few hours, then take my stick blender and puree it.

I have this for Breakfast 6 out of 7 days a week. i love em. they're easy, very low on calories and sugar and almost no carbs as well.

and they're not solid food, especially if you go with 45 to 50 seconds max on your microwave. but with a teaspoon of sugar free maple Syrup on top or sugar free jam, its the closest you can get to a pancake or the like .

You can get the matrix Protein powder at Vitamin shoppe's or Amazon etc. even bariatric pals store i think carries it. I recommend the Cookies and cream as the best one to go with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
