My surgery is tomorrow morning!

Recommended Posts

I'm a hot mess! A huge ball of anxiety. I say horribly inappropriate rude things to staff when I am like this. They just need to drug my butt when I get there. I am a nurse and was a Paramedic for years so I know everything that is going to be happening and I am totally OK doing it to other people, not having it done to me. I sound awful but I can't help it right now. Wish me luck and maybe the staff too. We will all need it.

Good luck Miss Rachel (and staff) :)

You're right on the edge of a fantastic journey to health and happiness. It's okay to be nervous.

Instead of thinking about what's gonna happen tomorrow, write a list of all the things you are going to be able to do one day in the future (mine includes things like taking a bath, seeing my collar bones, kneeling on the floor, going shopping for fun...) and imagine your new self. Go to your happy place.

The drugs are just around the corner ;)

Best wishes xx

I am in the same boat. I'm also an RN and I know exactly what's gonna go down and I'm so scared. I'm having surgery on Wednesday and I'm on the verge of having a full blown anxiety attack at any minute!! LOL God Love anyone in my path from now until Wednesday haha.

you nurses need to relax lolol... in reality.. sure you have a lot if extra info in your head that maybe u shouldn't but also that knowledge can be power...you can take better care of yourself too..but right now it's time to let go and be the patient...let them take care of you... don't give then a hard time bc you know better... and everyones trajectory is different and even unique so you can't predict what's going to happen and obsessing about all that can go wrong due to ur knowledge base isn't going to help you cope ir heal physically or emotionally....so try to let it go and get off the hamster wheel

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
