Okay friends I am so sorry for this tmi post but I'm 4 days post op and as soon as I put anything in I have to go to the bathroom. My information from my surgeon says I can take immodium so after going several times I sent a family member to get some, and the dosing reads after loose stool take one tablet and after every additional loose still take one, I took 3 yesterday and still ended up pooping my brains half the night, then today the same viscous cycle. My friends and family say I need to stop taking the immodium because I'm going to cause a bowel obstruction but this morning I literally had a accident in my bed because it was so loose I couldn't make it to the bathroom! I'm so sorry this is tmi but idk what to do!!! Thank you so much

I am 6 days post-op and have had diarrhea too, but not that bad. I don't think taking Immodium will hurt you, I had chronic diarrhea for years after having my gallbladder out 15 years ago and my doctor said it was okay to take it as much as I needed to. But maybe call your surgeon and ask to be sure??

immodium cannot cause you a bowel obstruction, lol , thats a good one. I hadnt heard that before. I am a ex paramedic of 11 years so take it for what you will. I also recommend the liquid imodium as you may be passing the pills before you get to absorb them.

Audrey, you are not alone! I've had the same issues. I didn't start taking immodium until after 3 weeks of the diarrhea. I've tried adding Fiber, but the refried Beans give me gas, and there aren't many choices with our limited diet. I've cut out the premier Protein shakes thinking it's a lactose issue, and that's helped a little. I also changed from prilosec to zantac at my nutritionists recommendation. Prilosec can contribute to diarrhea, although it never used to bother me.
