I am on the pre op diet. I am on 100 grams of Protein and 100 grams of carbs. I drink 4 Protein shakes a day. Slim fast high protein is on my list so I drink those. At lunch I can have a lean protein, 2 veggies and a fruit. Then in between have sugar free Jello and broth. I have gained 4 pounds, is it possible?

Oh my we have to get 60g Protein and 0 carbs except whats in our shakes Premier Protein which is like 5 grams. The insurance denied me so I got to appeal I guess. But it nothing for me to gain 3-4 lbs eat or not eat. most likely just Fluid. Good Luck

Most Protein shakes will have 20 grams of Protein and minimal sugar. Slim Fast Advanced Nutrition says it has as much as 20 grams of protein and as little as 1 gram of sugar. So it sounds like a good Protein shake. But Slim Fast Original has 10 grams of protein and a whopping 18 grams of sugar, so I would definitely stay away from the original variety.

Weight loss is achieved after RNY gastric bypass surgery through meal volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein Shakes.
So overall it seems like you are beginning in the pre-op stage with making a good transition to the protein supplements that you will need to carry you through the post-op stage.

I love premier protein! They ate expensive where I live, so I switched to muscle milk

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
