Regaining weight... please help

Recommended Posts

I had bypass surgery in June 2010... until March 2015 everything was well and I kept what I had lost. Since then I have been gaining weight and so far I have gained a little over half of what I first lost. Pleaseeeeee help me get down again, anyone has a good diet or something that can help me. Has anyone had the same problem??

Go back to the basics as if you had surgery yesterday. Are you following a high Protein, lower carb diet? Drinking a minimum of 48 to 64 oz of Water per day? Getting at least 1 gram of Protein for every inch you are tall?

Not drinking your calories or drinking with meals? Eating 3 small meals per day? No grazing......

Walking as much as you can.

What habits have you allowed back in?

I am only two years out and continue to struggle with maintenance. I gain a couple of pounds back and then lose it again over and over but for the most part I follow the rules and that is what helps me get control.

I would simply reset myself and see if that gets things moving again.

Why do we not eat and drink at the same time?

Is mushy food not the same thing?

Drinking diluted your stomach acid, which is ph of 1, or the most acidic on the ph scale.

Your stomach acid is responsible for quickly breaking down food, and drinking while ingesting food will impede its function.

Also, drinking liquids allows your stomach to stretch and hold more food in one sitting. It is the exact opposite effect that you want.

The dietician I work with said by not drinking when you eat it helps the Protein stay in your pouch longer and makes you feel full longer. I am not yet to the sweet spot in my restriction. I will need two to four more lapband fills before I know if this works on me.

Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
