POLL: Whats YOUR "FULL" SIGNAL??

Recommended Posts

:hungry: OK lots of people say that they have a full signal. I thought I would make a little survey to see what everyone here in bandland recognizes as "their" quirky full signal be it a sneeze, hiccups, burping or whatever else you might experience. This list may be helpful to newly banded folks to help them notice anything that may be happening so that we may be able to recognize our new signals.

my Signal Is Pain In My Left Shoulder, Similar To The Pain That Some Suffer From Right After Surgery. The So Called Gas Pain. Usually When I Feel That, I Know It Is Time To Stop.

I think I have hiccupped, but I am not really aware of it when it happens. I get this kindof pre "ick" feeling and all the thoughts race through my head..."Okay, I REALLY want another bite. If I dare is this going to threaten to come up?" I just had my 4th fill on Thursday and I am REALLY restricted. I am now finding that it is easier to "say no" because I am reacting like Pavlov's dog....I KNOW if I push it there will be consequences. But get this! Yesterday I was passing Taco Cabana and I went in and got a small margarita and a taco salad. Sat and had two sips of the margarita and about two bites of the taco salad and I felt ICK!!! Tossed the margarita, took the taco salad home....also PB'd into an empty water bottle on the way...that was interesting while trying not to let anyone see what I was doing....Got home and had two more bites of the taco salad and then tossed it! It was hysterical but I felt great after that....I GOT my taco salad fix...I actually GOT one....but after those two bites it jusdt didn't have the stranglehold on me that it usually does. Of course this could get very expensive. Buying food and tossing it. It's kindof cathartic for me, but definitely not good on the pocketbook. But I've noticed in the last few days I am really thinking a little harder before I commit to some food....like...is it worth it? Naaahhhh.

I get the hiccups and feel like I want to burp. My nose runs usually when it's too late and something is going to come back up.

I know when I take a deep breath that I would be fine if I ate no more food but not having had a fill - I find it hard to quit. Hope all that changes on Friday when I get my first fill !

SD Chick, don't be too disappointed if you still have an appetite after the first fill. I was hungry and ready for real food the very night of my first fill. I had my second about a month later, and didn't feel like it did much. But we went on vacation (cruise) and I discovered real fast that the 2nd one worked pretty good. Not only did it keep me from consuming everything (I was able to get a taste of just about everything), but in the process my appetite has decreased immensely. I've heard people say that it can take 3-5 fills to get that "just right" spot.

Good luck!

Good morning ALL,

I just got my 1st fill yesterday, but I always had a "strange" knot that came in my throat, so I always quit eating. People have said that it takes about two weeks for the restriction (if any at all with the 1st fill) to kick in, but I'm going to stop after I feel that little knot. I have "slimed" only once and it was not a nice feeling.:cry

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
