Anyone heard of the Belite group?

Recommended Posts

:embarassed:Hi everyone,

I am scheduled to be banded on Sept. 18 in Detroit. I am getting a little concerned as I have been searching on her for a while and have yet to see anyone (except for one) other person who was scheduled by the Belite Group. The woman is named Joann and I am sure that she is also affiliated with a group in Mexico.

Can anyone give me any information about this company.......good or bad.:help:

Belite contracts with various docs to promote them. Docs pay Belite to advertise on their behalf. They used to contract with Dr. Kuri but that ended.

While they used to have virtually no actual reputation, the doctors had the rep, they seem to be developing a 'not so great' rep lately. Lots of people are coming here and complaining that they are not getting return phone calls, they are not getting questions answered, they are not happy with the service. They feel that when they are booked for surgery, Belite tends to ignore them. Belite is right there for them until the moment they book surgery then Belite hits the road and tends to focus on getting more business, not working with the people they already have signed up.

Hi Tilly,

If your surgery is on the 21st, I will probably just be on my way home from Detroit. I will try to let you know how it went but I am thinking that you won't get to read it before your surgery. I wish you the best right now and try not to be nervous.........ok.....I am a little nervous.

Let's compare notes afterwards. Also, are you on a pre-op liquid diet? I haven't been on one. I have just tried to watch the calories and fat all week. I think I may have actually lost a couple pounds doing this.

Keep in touch and Good luck!

I scheduled through Belite and got mine done in Mexico. They assign you a patient advocate who was great to me. The only problem I had was with the doctor's group in mexico not planning things very well while I was there.

Is this the same group as Belighter?

If it was/is, I'm not impressed. Belighter missed my surgery date by four days. I flew to Monterray MX and had no one there to meet me. I was thinking about following the John Deere group home because they seemed familiar to this country girl from MT. I was able to get ahold of my liason from Belighter, who didn't want to talk to me then (she was in the hospital) but I was panic-ed and she finally got ahold of someone who came to the hospital, after I figured out how to get a cab there (out of my pocket). They were expecting me on a friday and I was there monday night..surgery on Tuesday, they were able to work it out. I have to say, the people in Mexico were wonderful. Just the liason...not so good.

I am doing great. This is post-op day 3 for me and I am up and about thinking of having a garage sale.......my husband will do all the heavy lifting. So far, this was a very easy surgery and my surgeon, Dr. Scott Laker, from Detroit Medical Center was just wonderful. I would recommend him without any hesitation. Looking forward to my smaller jeans fitting agian very soon. Let me know how you are doing also.

Tilly, who is your surgeon in Detroit? Everyone was absolutely wonderful to me. The surgery was fairly easy and my pain is well controlled. I was actually more worried than I needed to be. Relax, it will all be over soon and you will be up and about. And, if you are anything like me, will be going stir crazy sitting around the house. Keep me posted.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
