show1980 38 Posted November 3, 2016 I wondered if there are any former banders who went through scaring from the bank and how long it took for them to feel better? How long before you could get down 4oz?I'm home now with prescriptions but I still feel like crap even though I feel a little better. Travelher 915 Posted November 5, 2016 Not sure what the question is. Did you have your band removed? Did you have a revision? I'm a former banister who had a revision to rny 5 weeks ago
show1980 38 Posted November 5, 2016 travelher, yes I had the band removed because it slipped and got the sleeve on Tuesday. My surgeon says I'm having such difficulties getting things down because of scarring from the band I was wondering if anyone had experienced this and how long it went on. Travelher 915 Posted November 5, 2016 looks like you are newly sleeved. (like a week or so out?). I was lucky because not much scarring. it was why i got a bypass, if there was scarring it would have been a sleeve. I know the first week was pretty tough to get all my liquids in. this is what helped me...warm liquids go down better. with cold I got pain and lots of gas. I was heating everything...that eventually got better and now in week 5 I can drink cold liquids without an issue. I was mostly focusing on getting Protein early on. My plan allowed for 5 meals a day...during the first 2-3 weeks it looked like 5 1/2 cup portions of liquids. warning...when you move to purees1/2cup may be too much. eat until you are satisfied not until you feel stuffed. I tried a hard boiled egg. it was too dense and made me feel uncomfortable so I went back to liquids for a day or 2 until I went back to purees/soft. most important is the Vitamins. I use the PatchMD and started in my pre-op diet. i think those helped immensely with my energy. I'm almost at 6 weeks and feel totally normal now....still keeping my portions small.. 1/2-3/4 cup depending on what it is. Keep in mind everyone is different. eg i know my pouch is double the size of the average bypass patient because the band stretched the stomach.

this sucks 557 Posted November 5, 2016 I'm almost three weeks out from revision to sleeve from the LapBand. I've started feeling better the last few days but I get tired out pretty quick. I'm 53, which may be part of it. I had a ton on scarring, plus an undiagnosed band slip and prolapse. I also needed a hiatal hernia repair (even though it was fixed when the band was placed). I didn't have too much trouble with swallowing right from the start. I moved to puréed on Monday of this week and so far, so good. I can eat one egg scrambled with some cheese melted in, about 1/4 c. of refried Beans. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
