Any one here from UK

Recommended Posts

Hi I am 6 days post op and live in U.K. I love reading your posts but most of the brand foods etc you talk about are not here in the uk so was wondering if anyone else was on her from UK? Love the vibe though. Thanks xx

Hiya.

Went through the "what on earth have I done?" feeling on the first week. Am now over 42lb lighter so that is no longer a question and am concentrating on trying to get enough Protein.

How's it going with you?

Hi I am 18 days post op and feeling good most of the time but feeling I am not able to eat or drink much at all tried a bit of scramble egg but it didn't stay down for long. Not in any pain and I've lost 4.5lb this week which I am happy with 18lb in total since starting pro op diet one week prior to surgery. How may weeks are you now? 42lb is amazing

Thank you. 42lb since Oct 14th. I seem to have reached a plateau at the moment as its not moved for a few days but it's not unexpected. It'll start again when its ready.

I've found eggs to be tricky. Will give it another week before I try them again. Had baked Beans for the first time today. About 5 teaspoons for lunch :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
