Not eating and just feeling bad all together

Recommended Posts

Thinking I was handling everything so well til last Friday. I'm a month post today. Nurse at Dr office says it's just nerves waking up and it's normal. Still I dont want to eat anything. Protein from food hurts. Barely getting shakes and Water down. The pain where my large incision was which is healed has come back today on top of it all. I just want to sleep sleep sleep. Not depressed I'm just exhausted. I'm sure that's from a decrease in Protein as well. My fiance is so great and supportive but I just feel blah.

If you are not drinking fluids it can make you feel very very crappy and run down. Are you at least getting 64oz of Water?

If not, as bad as you feel it will not get better until you do.

Also, if you have pain coming back I would request to see the doctor.

Haven't had awful pain any more, feeling ok. I've put off chicken for a while because its getting stuck I think. Dr says this is all normal. Still tired but considering everything I have been doing lately guess thats normal too. Did give myself my monthly B 12 tonight so that may help. I'm down to 234. Happy about that. I am only working 1 more day this week and 2 next so I see rest in my future. Odd because I have never been a nap person

I feel the same exact way. I dont get in nearly enough Protein. I could go all day and then by late afternoon im like i havent had Protein and may be able to muster two sips. I cannot deal with the protein. Not shakes. Not greek yogurt. But Water and Powerade zero im fine with. And ive been feeling the effects also. Super sleepy.

For those that don't like greek yogurt.Try some sugar-free flavor syrups. They are by the coffee section.I know at Walmart. You can also buy them on Amazon and other website. You can also add a little crystal light or sugar free Jello dry.this breaks up the plain old tastes of things.I have also put on cottage cheese to add a flavor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
