MaryCatherine 173 Posted November 3, 2016 (edited) They are made from collagen, a Protein that the human body does not absorb. An expensive waste of money. Edited November 3, 2016 by MaryCatherine
Travelher 915 Posted November 3, 2016 Are you doing any Protein Shakes. I was doing 1/2 premier for Breakfast, 1/2 for each snack which gave me a 45 gram start. For lunch and dinner I would add a tablespoon of Protein Powder to my Soups to boost. I'm on week five and just getting to 60-70 grams of Protein. My dietician acknowledged it is nearly impossible early on to be hitting protein goals. I'm just hitting mine now.

MaryCatherine 173 Posted November 3, 2016 Before you give up on Protein shakes, try BSN Lean Desssert or BSN Syntra-6. When I open a container of Protein powder and smell it, they smell like spoiled milk. BSN smells like cake mix. It does not spell disgusting and does not make me sick. We do not absorb collagen and it will not help you keep your protein levels up after surgery.
rolosmom7 740 Posted November 4, 2016 I can only tolerate oh yeah! One bars - I had to try a LOT of options. I'm 7 weeks out and hit about 60g which I know still isn't enough. Just keep working on it. I have a grocery list to try and add Protein like cottage cheese and those p3 Snacks. Syntrax nectar I can also do at half strength, albeit grudgingly.
