Jenny Nelson 5 Posted November 2, 2016 I want to say that this liquid diet sucks. Ugh. Everyone around me at work Snacks and eats. I just want to hide for two weeks until surgery. I am just venting because I know you all know how this feels. Also, I am questioning it all. Second guessing myself. Especially, during the holidays. I had to ask my Mom to make me turkey broth for this Thanksgiving. It is going to be rough watching them eat all the yummy food, and I am sipping on broth. Is it truly worth it? Will I be able to ever eat the foods I love again? Someone told me you can't have any sugar or carbs after surgery? Am I not allowed a cheat every once in awhile like on my bday? Feeling frustrated. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App I know exactly how you feel. Since I've started the journey of trying to get the surgery done I've been nothing but optimistic! I didn't second guess it not even once or was ever nervous. I'm currently in day 2 of my pre op liquid diet and today was the first time I ever thought twice about it. Besides the splitting headache that won't go away I work at a restaurant, which is basically torture considering I'm starving! It sucks now but I know in the end it'll all be worth it! Hang in there! You're not alone! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
blizair09 3,250 Posted November 2, 2016 You have to think about what is more important, foods you love or getting healthy. And then you have to put foods you love away for a while. Once you get to your goal, then you can make some decisions about what you can bring back and at what frequency. But no one said this journey was easy. Trust me, there is a lot of sacrifice that has to be made, but as the weight comes off, it is worth it. No pizza, fast food, beer, or chicken wing is more desirable to me than the 124 pounds I have lost since March 21! Good luck!!
Ssze1109 163 Posted November 6, 2016 I feel the exact same way. I feel like I have to mourn the food I love like pizza. It makes me sad that I have to give up pleasurable great tasting food because I can't lose weight on my own. Everything revolves around food. Commercials every second about food. I'm thinking eventually you can eat things in small quantities because people do gain weight back. So I guess years down the road we have to learn Portion Control and hopefully by the time that comes we don't have the overeating problem anymore and have learned new habits. Secretgarden 4 Posted November 6, 2016 I'm on day 2 of pre op as well and second guessing whether it's really worth it. I cook my fiancé dinner every night before he gets home from work and it's so hard not to have a bite cause I know 1 bite will turn into a bowl full. Are you allowed to have steamed veges and fruit or vlcd Protein bars? Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
Ssze1109 163 Posted November 6, 2016 I am allowed unlimited "greens" with a sensible dinner. No oil , butter, potatoes , Pasta or rice. So I've been eating chicken, salad and broccoli. But the one meal is still hard! I can't imagine having to cook other things. Just walking thru the grocery store with the smells was hard. I feel like such a weak person to complain. Sloane 26 Posted November 7, 2016 Over time I believe you can have whatever you want to eat, but it doesn't mean you wont gain weight if you're eating pizza and burgers. I know folks who were sleeved 3 years ago and the've gained weight. Not all of it, but more than 30 lbs back. Which I consider a substantial gain with your stomach is the size the sleeve is - tiny. I think the thing to keep in mind is - you will have a tool to allow you to eat whatever you want, just in smaller quantities. So don't give up hope, just dont eat so much of it. I know people still drink beer, eat Pasta and enjoy their food, they just dont over indulge when they do it. I'm willing to eat less to stay thin. Most folks I know who are thin dont eat much anyway, even without having surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
