Travel to Mexico for surgery in a few days, never flown

Recommended Posts

My rule is anything "mission critical" goes with me in my carry on. So always keep your meds with you. Pack very light, you don't need much. You don't want to carry anything heavier than 25 pounds.

Remember liquids need to be in bottles less than 3 ounces. You can get travel bottles at the drug store.

Depending on your airport, plan on getting there 1-3 hours before take off...Check here: http://awt.cbp.gov/

I always take an empty Water bottle with me so I can fill it when I get through security.

Yes, what was said about your medications and keeping them with you. Also I had packed Protein drinks and bottled Water as he was on his preop and I had my RNY 3 years ago. But...they made us throw everything away. Coming back to Oregon they did put my water bottle thru the machine to check it out, but it took so long I finally just left it. At the border coming back to the U.S, they checked all of our medications. Just as a caution when we went thru the border into Juarez, Mexico their guards had guns!! Kind of scary. Good luck!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
