Alex Brecher 10,515 Posted November 5, 2016 @@show1980, Congratulations on your surgery, and congratulations on feeling exactly how most gastric sleeve patients feel at this time post-op! It is hard, but these feelings will pass as your body heals and you have less pain and you lose weight. What you can do now to help yourself recover faster and feel better, and even set yourself up for better weight loss later, is to take care of yourself. Work hard to get in the fluids you need, even though drinking is very difficult now. Sip fluids all day as much as you can. As soon as your surgeon allows you, get in your Protein, too. I know you are hurting and uncomfortable, but that’s normal, so try not to worry.

show1980 38 Posted November 6, 2016 Thank you Alex! momfirst, a 20oz G2 is pretty much the most I can get down and I'm still working on that. I'm still trying on my Protein shake. The mushies will have to wait I guess, I'll keep trying. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Joy@boman 151 Posted November 6, 2016 They never even offered me a pain pump. Sad face. I had to beep the nurse and wait until they got to me. But the pain wasnt so bad. It was the nausea. Nothing made me happier then anti nausea meds. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Morphine does nothing for me, after my husband and mom pleaded with the nurse, she finally got my surgeon to approve dilaudid. Even with that, I was up the first 2 nights as not only was I in pain, my surgeon took my mental health and sleep meds away. I had no idea prior to surgery he would do this (just my celebrex was stopped) - when I did preop at the hospital, they took a list of my meds and said not to bring them from home since they'd have everything I need there. NOT! It was pretty rough.

jane13 2,256 Posted November 6, 2016 My buyers remorse came and went within about 2-3 hrs on the Friday after I had my surgery on Wednesday. I was really blessed with no post surgery issues. I think for most of us it's the coping with life, minus food. I remember thinking what have I done? I can't go get my stomach out of the biohazard bin at the hospital :/ Then sanity kicked in and I remembered WHY I chose to get the surgery. My health. My beautiful grandchildren......my husband and children......ME! Tomorrow will be 18 months post-op and down over 100lbs. No Regrets!
