So I am officially 131 days post-op and I am down 70 pounds with only 20 more to go. I would be lying if I said it had been easy but I completely love my sleeve now. For the first month I was convinced I had ruined my life but now I appreciate how healthy I am and how slim I am looking!

I really do miss being able to sit and eat huge meals but the sight of a lot of food makes me feel very sick... even now. My hunger is returning but in a different way, I'm only hungry for healthy things now and spend my entire time eating vegetables- fruit makes me sick.

I encourage people to have the surgery but I am 18 and will admit to you all now that I was too young to undergo such a change and it has been a very emotional journey that I wouldn't wish anyone young person to have... Saying that I have a very long future to look forward to and I have the confidence to pursue it!

Congrats! U took the needed steps towards a healthier u! By having it done at such a young age, many of the pitfalls of yo-yo dieting as an adult will now b avoided! I didn't need it at yur age, but I did 15 years ago (I'm 48 now).....it just wasn't available; only RNY was done at that time, even when the lap band became available, I wasn't a fan of a foreign body being placed n me! Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
