Any other November sleevers out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi, New to this. I have done all my pre op appointments and I've been approved for Surgery and my surgery is Next Friday Nov 9. Im on a 2 week post op diet first week 2 shakes a day and a high Protein dinner. I did pretty good the first week; slipped one day. I am on my second week and only liquids but I had baked chicken breast and green Beans for lunch. I have lost 12 pounds so far. My question is will this hurt my surgery? Should I tell the doctor? Do you all think it will be okay?

I'm scheduled for Nov. 21st. I'm not going to lie. I'm a lot anxious about post-opt.

I've read too many posts about complications and difficulties. Honestly, it sounds horrifying.

I live in Austin, Texas. Are there any support groups here?

Thanks.

I'm also Austin area, having mine on the 18th. Start my pre-op diet today (low carb - so not that bad).

Hello LivetoTravel,

You live in Austin correct? Would love to exchange contact information if you are comfortable. Not sure how to do it in a private manner.

Hope you enjoyed the vacation. I have the operation on 15th but have gone for bypass as I feel I need extra limitations to keep me in line.

liquid diet was tough first 2 days but is fine now. Really does take off the pounds !

I am 3 days post op.

The day before I was nervous and stressed ! ! One the way to the hospital I asked my husband if we could just run away !!!

For me surgery was fast and not alot of pain. . . Mostly sore belly and GAS !

NOwhere near the pain I had expected in my mind !

You can do this !

Last night was the first time I was able to drink a whole protien shake.

I've heard pew talk about being hungry

Ive not had that at all. . .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
