SlimBra 151 Posted November 2, 2016 I had surgery last Wednesday. I feel great! I should get my JP drain removed on Thursday. I have been out a few times already. Monday the nurse called and was not happy that I was not getting in my liquids or protien. I was getting in about 20oz of liquids....15 grams of protien ..maybe even less protien... I was only home for 3 days..off meds for a day and a half. She wanted more liquids and protien. I am trying but it's hard! Today I have 32 grams of Protein and 34 oz of liquids. I'm forcing down some now. I'm just frustrated...where do they think this liquid is going?!?! any advice? Djmohr 6,965 Posted November 2, 2016 Honestly those first few weeks are the hardest but you have to do the best you can. I literally sat with a cup in my hand every hour I was awake and would take sips every few seconds until i finally reached my goal. It is harder than people thing and not doing it can leave you feeling crappy and it can imitate hunger which is not possible in the first few months.
#BirdDog 604 Posted November 2, 2016 Took me a bit to get going to, my surgeon pushed Protein protein protein. Getting in the fluids and protein is important to your healing process. I used a Nalgene bottle and had to constantly sip on it to get mine in. Even now I'm finding myself laying in bed reading and trying to get in the last of my Water for the day. Mudgy6 88 Posted November 5, 2016 It was hard for me as well, so hard that I had became dehydrated. I was getting dizzy from walking stairs or just getting up from a chair. My NUT pushed Protein and fluids, but protein first. Im better now but still healing. My pouch can only hold two bites of food. Just take it one day at a time. It does get better and easier.
