Can only eat a little

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I am 3 weeks post op. Does the eating get better? I mean I can only eat very very little and it's frustrating. Will I be able to eat a little more a few months out?

Hello. Well, yes I did to but I just want to know if I will be able to eat larger portions in the long run. Right now I eat 3 bites and that's all I can hold but I still have the craving for the food. Just wondering if I'll ever feel satisfied.

The whole idea of the surgery is to restrict how much you can eat. It takes time, but you're going to have to learn to be satisfied with a smaller amount of food. Right now your head is wanting more, not your stomach. Learn to read that and STOP when done or it can cause issues, both physical and emotional. Food will have to take a backseat from now on.

And yes, the natural progression of things as everything heals and the swelling goes down is to be able to eat a bit more. That continues to increase slowly years out. There will be a time here real soon where you will miss the days of being full from a few spoonfuls of food. Believe me.

I am almost 2 yrs out. It does get better. Take it slow and enjoy. Do not let your brain control you. Right now your stomach and brain are not communicating. That will come back in time. Heal first, and again enjoy the weight falling off.
