Torressl1234 6 Posted October 31, 2016 I'm 7 weeks out today and my recovery has been hell. I've been in the hospital 4 times for dehydration and Vitamin deficiency. I have a stricture and ulcer. Couldn't keep food down for weeks which led to numbness in my hands and feet. Had a few good days after dilation but alas the stricture is rearing its head again. I am down 47lbs which is great but my weight loss was halted for about a week due to lack of nutrition. Still regretting my surgery at the moment, just need hope that it gets better. I didn't think my health would be effected for the worst after surgery.
facebro29 272 Posted October 31, 2016 I wouldn't say I regret the surgery but still haven't gotten to the point where I'm glad I did it. I'm 4 weeks post op. So sorry to read about your nightmare. I hope you are now on the mend. Big hugs!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Torressl1234 6 Posted October 31, 2016 Oh ya at week 4 I was definitely not glad I had got the surgery. I'm at a point where there's worst things than being overweight. I'm still dedicated to the process, but very weary.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted October 31, 2016 It takes awhile to return to a new normal. I think I finally reached my happy state at 6 months post-op when all the problems seemed to melt away.

Djmohr 6,965 Posted November 1, 2016 Every day will get a little better. If you are struggling with a stricture, take the time to get it cleared up and things will get better for you. I have never for even 1 second regretted my decision to have bypass surgery. it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Recovery is a process that requires patients. There are going to be good days and bad days....but the bad days will go away after some time. The lifestyle takes some getting used to.

Recycled 2,182 Posted November 1, 2016 Pretty much anything in life that doesn't go as planned will bring on regret. It may be tough but, give it more time. Time heals most things.
shedo82773 1,236 Posted November 2, 2016 I am so sorry you are going thru this. I can totally understand this!! I had my RNY on July 2, 2013. I started having trouble around the 4 to 6 weeks after my surgery. In Nov of 2013 I had my first ENDOSCOPE with a dilation. Again in DEC, Jan 2014 July 2014 with my last one on Jan 2015. I have had no problems since. My DR talked about moving my Stoma down to healthy tissue. But I haven't had a problem since!! It does suck for sure. But believe, me it was all worth it!! I lost 132#'s in 6 months. I did have an 8# gain. But I have maintained my 125#'s for 2 and 1/2 years. I know it is hard right now but hang in there it will and it will be all worth it. BTW they ended up using a size 18 balloon before it stopped the strictures. I know it is bad and you are wondering WHAT THE HELL did I do, but hang tight. and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!! Sai 785 Posted November 5, 2016 Nope, I don't regret it at all (not my lap band nor my revision to sleeve this year) but having said that, I had an extremely easy recovery. I think if I had issues like some, I'd be feeling similar to the way you feel. I hope you feel better soon.
