Hi Guys

Me again sorry. I haven't had much guidance from my surgeon or NUT since being sleeved on 4th Oct and my first appt is not til 16th Nov. I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow and moving on to soft foods I can't wait!!

My question is when does the swelling go down. I guess I should try to call the outpatients number to see how this works but wanted to know from you guys? I find it hard bending down on my left side and even trying to do my toe nails is very difficult. I've searched on the forum but nothing really comes up for this.

Thanks in advance.

I'm 3 weeks out and still have to be careful of my abdomen area. I still wear the brace and have to hold the area walking. I can bend over no problem but if I'm bent at the waist for a longer period of time I start to feel like I'm gonna hurl.

Regular healing time is like 6 weeks I think so I'm not really worried till after that time period. I feel like I might be a little further along than you but not by much!

@@facebro29 I believe it depends. I haven't had any issues bending down since Day 2 - I bent to pick something up in the hospital (not thinking) and had no pain or discomfort. I've heard others talk about the swelling in their abdomen but I don't have that either.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
