Heidi Kat. ... I have been stressing about not losing anything over the past two weeks and being concerned it would be a marker for after surgery. So glad to see your success. On the the next two weeks of liquids.

Hang in there....i think the body freaks out and trys to hold on to the weight. It trys to protect. Once it realizes you are healthy. IT WILL START TO RELEASE.

@@megnun21 I'll be 2 weeks out tomorrow. I'm not even bothering tracking weight loss at this point - we had a lot of swelling and Water retention from the IVs and weight can fluctuate up and down drastically during this time. Concentrate on getting plenty of fluids (at least 64 ozs) and meeting your Protein goals. Don't restrict foods - eat as your plan suggests! There's no way to compare your progress with anyone else. We all lose at different rates - and have different amounts to lose. Just keep doing what you're supposed to be doing - the weight will come off. It's not a race.

exactly what KristenLe said! but if it makes you feel better - in the first two weeks I lost...NOTHING not even a tenth of a pound. Now at 4.5months out, I'm down 70lbs. So everyone loses differently but if you follow your plan, you will lose.

Wow, at 4/5 months and youre down 70lbs. Thats freaking awesome. Hell, i only have 120lbs to lose so that would be great fir me. Im really not trying to get to the goal he wants me at. 145lbs because im 5'7. But im 51, and ive always maintained that weight until 3yrs ago when they started steriod treatments for my health problems and i ballooned up 150lbs. Im trying to maybe get to 160, size 10. So right now its coming off good. I started out in a 3x, im in a 1x now.

How do I give a thumbs up or add a new post on here? I want to give you all a "thumbs up" simply for taking the bull by the horns and making your future healthy self a reality! I'm an RN, 9 days out VSG, nothing but problems - I spent an extra 4 days in hospital due to nausea/pain spasms, came home for 3 days, back in the ER yesterday having IV fluids, spent last night having major diarrhea with my first bowel movement in 10 days (curse you, Milk of Magnesia!) and lost around a liter of RED Fluid, now it's morning and I'm feeling a lot better. Yes I know I lost blood from somewhere and I should have gone back to the ER but at 4am I just couldn't do it - I'd had enough of hospitals. More diarrhea just now is a normal color. Anyone else on here having bowel trouble?

Me, me, but its the complete opposite. Im so constipated man. I had same procedure on 10/4 so a month post op. Ive been doing great until tuesday. They repaired a huge hernia and gallbladder at the sametime so my recovery, ive been taking it easy. Ive been able to reach each goal ive set for myself. Im up to 2miles a day walking, im on pureed foods but i cant keep anything down the past 3 days. Ive had 1 bowel movement 2 wks past surgery and nothing since. Ive taken mom's also for relief. Now im in so much pain, and dehydrated that im here in the er waiting to recieve a iv for fluids. Ive been kicking myself in the ass for 2 days wondering why all of a sudden, im going through this. Heartburn is just so bad i feel like im on fire on the inside. They just took my vitals and my pressure is through the roof because of pain. I just hope they call me back soon. Damn my dr for being on vacation right now and i had to come to another er. If he was in town, he cohldve just called the fusion center and had them hold me a chair for a iv. But im at another hospital where another bariatric dr is on call for hispatients just in case of emergencies. Wish me luck, and i hope u start to feeling better soon

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
