ML573663 18 Posted October 30, 2016 Hi all! Surgery is approaching for me (12/13) and I have Celiac disease. I was wondering if there was any more of me out there who could tell me if having Celiac made a difference or not during their post op experience! Thanks! Autumn Fury 67 Posted October 31, 2016 I too was diagnosed with Celiac. My surgery was September 26th. It hasn't made a difference in the post op for me. In fact, I think it has helped as I've not been able to eat certain foods for years, so I don't miss them. I just say I can't eat that and move on to things I can eat. facebro29 272 Posted October 31, 2016 I'm not celiac but have several intolerances to foods. My NUT believed this would go away after surgery. She was COMPLETELY wrong if anything I think it's increased my sensitivities. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted October 31, 2016 I don't but think a good post-op plan would be very helpful for someone with celiacs (high Protein, low carb). Definitely work with your NUT to make sure you have a good plan in place.
