Still fighting nausea so bad! Every single time I try to sit, stand or get one drop of fluids on my stomach I'm fighting not to vomit. I have had a rough start with this. If I can't get myself better I'm going to ask to be admitted to the hospital and if my stomach does not adjust to where I can drink this band is coming out! MISERABLE!

Hang in there. It may be post op swelling but you may need to go to emergency to be checked out and hydrated

The first week was not good but now 7 months on 25kg lighter. So worth it but perhaps ring your surgeon for advice

Hi. Sorry to hear you are going through it... after what I just went through, I have to share.. I am on post op sleeve day 6 & was miserable for the first 3 days. I couldn't even open my mouth or eyes without dry heaving... hard. ugh. I had to have IV fluids w/ 2 anti-nausea meds & a patch behind my ear & wet wash cloths on my forehead to make me not want to puke. I was hospitalized for 5 days because after they did a CBC on me (& from what I remember,) I was told my hematocrit & hemoglobin levels were so low that I needed blood transfusions. I wasn't making enough red blood cells & to function and was experiencing severe anemia. Best advice I can give to you - is if it continues, go back to hospital ASAP. Positive vibes def sent your way.

Thank you so much for all the advice. It does give me some glimmer of hope to know I'm not the only one to go through this and with time it will hopefully get better. I spent the next day after surgery In Er as well I was dry heaving so bad I thought I ripped my guts out that was 2 days ago. Yesterday I fit a low grade fever all day and continued to drink Pedia lite to stay hydrated. Today no fever diluted the Pedia lite with Gatorade and all that seems to be going alot better. Just the nausea is sooooo bad if I could get that under control maybe I would be ok but as of now I'm super miserable and just praying for better days!

Better days are coming our way because we didn't get this far - to just get this far, right? If I was you, I would be getting a script of the best anti-nausea meds that your team can call in for you to your pharmacy. Hope it gets better soon!! I am still having this aching throbbing feeling in mid adbdomen since 4 a.m. We gotta have it a little more comfortable than this for us though lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
