PB42 34 Posted October 29, 2016 Has anyone traveled on an extended trip overseas after Gastric Sleeve surgery? I am one month post op and will need to go to the UK in April. Wondering about sources of Protein over there. Any advice appreciated. Thanks
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted October 30, 2016 By then you should be able to get the Protein you need from food. But if you need it, they have Protein Bars and shakes and powders in the UK too -- just read the labels carefully as the brands will be different from US brands (for the most part). Have fun! trekker954 421 Posted October 30, 2016 I travel slot, but agree with Buffelhead by then most of your Protein will be from real food. I'm sure the UK will be easy to find c supplements. They probably even have a GNC. Unlike the US where ready to drink supplements and Protein bars are founds in grocery stores, many of the countries I visit only carry Protein powder and bars and few options for RTD shakes in pharmacies. I'm preparing for three trips right now and just finished preparing my GENEPRO for each. I love it in my morning coffee and it's tasteless but starts me off with 30 grams. I'm 2 1/2 months out. I have yet to eat a bar but will bring them just in case. There are things you can buy here and take. Also beef or turkey Jerky. Don't worry, you'll be fine. It will be the long flight that's a challenge. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
PB42 34 Posted October 30, 2016 Wow, had not heard of genpro. It sounds wonderful. Do you just put it in packets and stick it in your suitcase. It sounds perfect. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
jess9395 5,449 Posted October 30, 2016 There are mixed opinions about the science behind GENEPRO so do your own research there. You've gotten great advice here I don't need o add more! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

desertgirl_74 114 Posted October 30, 2016 Yes, I travel overseas most of the year (I'm only in the US 3 months during the year). I bring in my luggage or have my preferred Protein Powder shipped. Other than post-workout shakes I get the rest of my nutrition from regular food.
