Has anyone traveled on an extended trip overseas after Gastric Sleeve surgery? I am one month post op and will need to go to the UK in April. Wondering about sources of Protein over there. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

By then you should be able to get the Protein you need from food. But if you need it, they have Protein Bars and shakes and powders in the UK too -- just read the labels carefully as the brands will be different from US brands (for the most part). Have fun!

I travel slot, but agree with Buffelhead by then most of your Protein will be from real food.

I'm sure the UK will be easy to find c supplements. They probably even have a GNC. Unlike the US where ready to drink supplements and Protein bars are founds in grocery stores, many of the countries I visit only carry Protein powder and bars and few options for RTD shakes in pharmacies.

I'm preparing for three trips right now and just finished preparing my GENEPRO for each. I love it in my morning coffee and it's tasteless but starts me off with 30 grams. I'm 2 1/2 months out. I have yet to eat a bar but will bring them just in case. There are things you can buy here and take. Also beef or turkey Jerky.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. It will be the long flight that's a challenge.

Wow, had not heard of genpro. It sounds wonderful. Do you just put it in packets and stick it in your suitcase. It sounds perfect.

There are mixed opinions about the science behind GENEPRO so do your own research there.

You've gotten great advice here I don't need o add more!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
