Congratulations! I'm scheduled for the 22nd! My insurance didn't require gym notes, just 7 months consecutive dietary appointments, plus a nutritionist and psych evaluation.

Was the gym thing a doctor requirement or an insurance requirement? I'm just curious since I've never heard of insurance requiring gym visits...

@@nikita30

they are "positive insurance will approve"

hmmmm - the only thing i am positive about is death and taxes !!! :)

always listen to doc about WLS

not about insurance

i would call insurance company monday

'fess up about how many times you went to gym

i'm sure you had a good reason not to go to gym when you should have

ask them what you should do now - or are you ok

they might say go to gym more often in the next weeks

good luck

kathy

It's difficult for me to see how much some of you have to go through with your insurance in order to have this (sometimes) life saving surgery. I'm in Canada and this surgery is available to me at no cost, and I'm not required to provide months of dieting, gym records - nothing like that. I've seen the intake nurse, dietician, and Psychologist. The dietician just wants to know that I'm eating regularly (which I never do) in order to approve me for surgery. According to the Psychologist, I won't have an issue getting approved. Really, as far as I can see, as long as I tell her I'm eating regularly, paying attention to portion size, etc. I'm o.k. Trouble is - I'm not sure I can do this! That's another story.

I wish you all the best. I do see that the insurance companies want to make sure that if they spend the money on you, you will adhere and be a good risk for them. I work in insurance - I understand risk.

Best of luck to you -

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
