grannyof6 1 Posted October 28, 2016 Ok I had my gastric sleeve op on sep29. But I had already been having diarrhea for about a week before this. My surgeon did labs that came back neg for anything causing the diarrhea so he performed the surgery. I've gone to my dr. Who also ordered labs that also came back negative. I'm going back today because it's really annoying already. I've tried otc anti-diarrheal meds, tried eating things to bulk up but nothing holds. As soon as I eat or drink I'm on the toilet. Even when I don't consume anything I have to go and sometimes it's minutes apart. Any advice, suggestions, similar stories??? Anya
KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 28, 2016 Are you drinking milk or shakes with lactose? You may have developed a lactose intolerance. Have they done cultures or only blood work?
littlelamb3 16 Posted October 28, 2016 I had a lot of it after my sleeve in August. It did get better. It still happens once in a while, but I get constipated as well. I had stomach issues before the sleeve though , so it is not so unusual for me.
Ailles86 4 Posted October 28, 2016 I started taking Probiotics and that really helped. The nutritionist explained that the surgery disrupts all of the bacteria--good and bad--in your gut. That leads to all kind of different ailments. The Probiotics help get things straightened out. grannyof6 1 Posted October 29, 2016 Thank you for your replies. Yes they've done a culture. I wouldn't be so concerned but I had this issue prior to my surgery. I've been eating some yogurt and I drink the Protein shakes once in a while. grannyof6
