You can do this. Have you had surgery yet? I felt that way when I started in January. It was very hard at first but got easier. It took work though. I am almost 4weeks post op and all my tastes have changed. What I loved for the most part doesn't even bother me seeing people eat around me. Soda was the hardest. It doesn't even cross my mind now. Every lb I lost helped too.

I highly recommend therapy. Take it one day at a time. If this was easy - none of us would end up needing surgery. Work on eating high Protein, low carb. There's plenty of great tasting food you can have. Working with a good therapist will help.

Nothing about this journey is easy at all, and it is not for the weak-willed. I encourage you to embrace the low-carb life pre-op and take this time to prepare yourself for what you will HAVE to do after the surgery. Work with a nutritionist and a psychologist to help you map out a plan and get to the root of your food issues. That will likely help you a lot.

With what about low carb are you struggling?

Best wishes!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
