Congratulations

You are at the beginning of an exciting time!

Hope you got some guidelines. Sipping a Protein shake when the doc oks it.....? That seems to be common first liquids..with as much Water as you can drink.

My 2cents is this can truly change your life, but You need to commit.

You can go slow and remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. You have plenty of time to learn to eat differently. Just chewing more (protein)and eating slowly can help a lot.

There is a nice group of banded vets around this site..with good advice;

there are plenty of nay Sayers too.

Best of luck and keep posting!

I was banded this morning I'm pretty sure he did not fill mine yet with anything but my hunger has disappeared. I have had 2 sugar free Popsicles all day. Is there anything else you all can recommend that I can eat or drink?

Hello. I got my band yesterday. I cooked beef and chicken broth before that. I like them a lot, especially, beef. Also I drink Crystals, teas, coffee and eat sugar free Jell-o.

My nausea is so bad and I can't get any fluids down quick enough to stay hydrated. I spent the day after surgery In the ER. It's not looking good today either. I have resorted to drinking Pedia lite for baby's just to try to stay hydrated enough to avoid the Er again today ughhh.

I was told to drink clear drinks for 3 days after surgery.

Yes the Pedia lite is clear. Which is all I have had except for maybe 3 sips of Protein shake because my hunger was back with a vengeance. He allowed me to have the slim fast even though I can't get any where with it lol. I gave up on it hours ago and have been strictly Pedia lite the rest of the time. Even a few sips are keeping me hydrated but I can't shake this nausea and the meds he gave me for is doing nothing and if anything makes it worse where my stomach is empty.

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
