jwidner 17 Posted October 27, 2016 Did your surgery affect your menstrual cycle in anyway? I was told the surgery could make your menstrual cycle come early but mine is lasting a lot longer. Did anyone else go through this? Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App

KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 27, 2016 @@jwidner It's very common. As you burn fat, it is releasing hormones that were stored - creating some issues with your cycle and moods.

Did anyone else go through this? Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App Absolutely! I'd completed menopause, so had been over a year with no cycle...I've had a light period every month since my surgery. All the fat-stored hormones are wreaking havoc as I burn that fat. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App Same problem for me the week post operation. I actually called my surgeon because I was scared. I've had one since then, and it lasted longer than normal. moppet 19 Posted October 28, 2016 I'm 6 months post op. For the first 4 months I had my period EVERY SINGLE DAY. it was a blood bath. Someone on here said a crime scene. Omg. It was ridiculous. I was buying Super Plus tampons (I didn't even know plus existed!). And I was changing them often. As a result I was absolutely exhausted. Lethargic. BUT as of last month & again this month - I am happy to tell you that my period has tapered off. I'm back to getting it once a month for about 5 days. It's still heavier than it used to be. But my point is my body is slowly crawling back to normal. GOOD LUCK !!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

They suggested I try an IUD. but honestly I didn't want one more thing new in my body. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
