Catcarter 21 Posted October 26, 2016 Hello, I had my sleeve surgery 3 weeks ago and I went this past Monday for blood work. My dr call and said my liver functions was highly elevated.. Has anyone else had this issue before? I go tomorrow to see my dr. to discuss what needs to be done. I am so worry!
sc101071 398 Posted October 26, 2016 Were they up prior to surgery? It goes hand in hand with fatty liver. Mine have returned to normal just months after surgery. They will probably do an ultrasound to confirm. Hope it's all ok.

Has anyone else had this issue before? I go tomorrow to see my dr. to discuss what needs to be done. I am so worry! Are you still taking pain meds or Tylenol? Any other meds like lipitor? It's possible it's just a normal reaction post-op. I think it could also be from not getting enough Protein. Hope it resolves soon.
Catcarter 21 Posted October 27, 2016 I have not had any issues with my liver before surgery. I have not took any pain meds , Tylenol or Lipitor or anything like that. I just take my Vitamins and I do get enough of my Protein in. I still have my gallbladder. Just wondering what the dr will do when I go back tomorrow. I am so worry! heidikat72 935 Posted October 27, 2016 How is he defining "highly elevated"? Mine are at least double the normal range at my 3 month bloodwork and neither my surgeon nor my primary were concerned at this point. I did some research and found some studies that indicated particularly in women it is not unusual for liver panels to initially go up before coming down with rapid weight loss. Your doctor may order some more specific tests to rule a few things out but I wouldn't worry at this point.
