So I am 5 days post-op and I have been noticing this feeling of an air bubble in my chest, but don't think it is an air bubble. Anyone else have this or may know what it is?

If it feels like pain or discomfort (pressure) then it is likely the gas they use to inflate the abdomen for the laproscopic surgery still needing to be absorbed. It can be pretty uncomfortable for at least a week - 10 days from my recollection.

Moving more and time is the only real cure. Get up and walk around several times an hour. Nothing strenuous - just walk. It will help to get it moving and reduce it over time.

If you still feel it at your next doctor visit, bring it up, but it likely isn't anything to really worry about unless you're still experiencing pain or intense discomfort at 2+ weeks out (in which case, call your doctor's office to ask if you should come in).

Oh I have no pain or anything like, never really did. it is just this chest pain that lasts for a few seconds that sometimes wakes me up at night. Thought maybe needing to take antacid for it to see if it helps

I get it at random times and when I haven't eaten. Sometimes feels better after eating. Going to try some antacids if it doesn't let up though. Some days are better than others

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
