Asmundson69 17 Posted October 26, 2016 So I'm 7 weeks post surgery and was wondering if it would be ok to have a small salad or not. Not sure how that would work but so far I have tried little things here and there and so far so good. I have lost a total of 40 pounds. My only concern that I'm having is that I tend to have this little bit of pain coming down from my belly button area but only when I go to sit down is this normal. BigViffer 3,544 Posted October 26, 2016 At 7 weeks I don't think it would be a problem. If your surgeon has cleared you for fresh vegetables, I say give it a shot. The only issue is the fact that there is literally no nutritional value to lettuce. Kale is a much better choice, but it is a bit fibrous and requires a lot of chewing. I mean a lot. lol, oh... one more thing. Don't go too far from the bathroom. Matter of fact, if you are going to try a salad for the first time, I would do it at home in case there is an "accident". blizair09 3,250 Posted October 26, 2016 On my plan, you can bring salads back in at Week 7 post-op. Salads were a staple of my pre-op six-month diet, but I am on the fence about them when I get to the 7 week mark for the reasons @@BigViffer noted. In fact, now that I have more protein-enhanced choices (cottage cheese, string cheese, scrambled eggs, and, next week, fish), I am trying to focus more on having those several times in the day so I can be much less reliant on Protein powder. rolosmom7 740 Posted October 26, 2016 I tried it just shy of 6 weeks and I didn't get sick but wasn't comfortable either. I love salad and have great salad bar options at work but am sticking to the Soup side of it still. I don't think it will harm you, but I've seen it cause a lot of people discomfort early on. Wouldn't want you to have the miserable afternoon I did! I'm try again in 2 weeks, that's my standard wait time.
