My first post from SC

Recommended Posts

Hello, my name is Diana and I am from SC. I have not had my band put in yet, but have taken the first steps. I saw the doctor (Dr.Givens in Columbia SC). I am going for my sleep study test next week.

I weighed in at 360. I have always been over-weight even as a child. My biggest fear right now--how to lose the weight and keep it off!! I have tried so many diets, from raw foods to taking pills. Oh I lost the weight..but of course it all came back. I am ready for this surgery.

My head is running fast these days I am scared, emotional, feeling like I can do this without the band, second guessing myself, worrying if my husband of only 2 years will like what he sees, excited, fearful, and on and on.

I have read a lot of the posts on here and for the most part they have been very upbeat and very reassuring to me. I feel like I know all of you already as I see myself in each. I am so appreciative of each of your posts..I needed to hear the good and the bad.

I am looking forward to coming back to this site daily. I hope its okay to post so I can get my feelings out with those that have been through this and maybe those that have not and are in the same boat as I am.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!!!

Much love and peace

Diana:nervous

Hi Diana,

Welcome Diana! You will be so amazed all the friends you will have here at lbt. It has helped me so much to come on here and learn, vent, and ask questions.

Diana, I have family that lives outside of Columbia, SC. We visit your area every summer.

Take care,

shelli:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
