There is a reason it's called the liquid phase and soft foods. Yogurt is thick. You stomach is very swollen right now and the opening is very small. Even liquids will cause a backup in the esophagus. Eating something like yogurt will take longer to dribble into as well as out of your stomach.

I understand the cravings, but honestly; is a yogurt really worth setting a precedent in your mind that it is ok to cheat already?

No to dangerous. I've been sticking strictly to my NUT guidelines. I was allowed runny yogurt during my 'liquid' phase.

I had yogurt 4 days after the surgery. No chunks and one little cup would last me an entire day. You put it on your tongue and let it melt. I could not have broth and it was either that or nothing.

Yogurt (regular and greek smooth, no chunks) was included in my list of approved foods for the full liquid phase. You should have been given a list of acceptable foods for each stage. There are medical reasons for the process to advance your diet, so it's more than just "cheating" at this stage. Each doctor has a different diet advancement plan, you need to stick to what your doc has advised. My doc had me advancing much more quickly than most of the other plans people have discussed here, so what was on my plan might not be OK with your doc.

I didn't have to cheat. I was allowed (smooth no fruit) Greek yogurt doing my full liquid stage. Add some fairlife milk to make it a liquid?!!!

I was also allowed fit lite Greek yogurt no fruit during both my pre-op and post-op full liquid stages. I don't consider that cheating. Keep up the good work. You will get past this stage. Today is my first day on my pureed stage. OMG food tasted so good. I have waited a month

It was worth it!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
