Ok, was sleeved Oct 21st and I am currently on liquids. But, I am afraid I will drink too much and hurt myself. How can I tell when I am full? Sounds like a stupid question but I am not sure I know how.

In my case, I just had to experiment with my sips and I pushed myself to take more in at a time over a period of days. In terms of Protein, early on, it took me about 2 hours to drink a Protein Shake, and over time that pared down significantly.

For me, I could tell when I didn't need to take anymore in, and I always just heeded my body's advice. Now that I am on more dense foods (eggs being the most dense), my strategy has been to eat smaller amounts more often, so I haven't ever come close to taking up all of my stomach space yet.

Logistically speaking, liquids of any type just go through your sleeve pretty quickly. You'll get that "I can't take any more in" feeling, but it passes pretty quick. (That's why those "slider foods" become so dangerous later on...)

@@happycamper06 Take small sips - the fluids will go through your sleeve rapidly and you won't really feel "full". I'm actually able to take normal sips (except with shakes) now (7 days post op). It has made it much easier to get in all my fluids (I'm already over the 64 oz goal). It's important to get plenty of fluids - so keep sipping!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
