Slowing weight loss on purpose?

Recommended Posts

I was interested in this topic because I have been thinking about this over the last week or so. I am getting to a weight where Im comfortable and I average about 15 lbs a month. I would like to slow down to about 5 lbs a month now. Not sure how to do that. I haven't had a stall yet but I imagine its coming. Trust me I would embrace it and I wouldn't be mad at all!!!! I may have a 0-1lb weight loss right around my cycle but afterward I drop about 3-5 lbs. I was exercising 4-5 days a week but I have stopped that because I am losing inches like crazy and I look a lot smaller than I weigh. But it seems that you all are referring to upping calories for the sake of speeding up metabolism???

I don't think I will try to slow down my loss. I think it will all average out I just don't want to be as small as I thought I did. I want to be at a weight that is healthy for me and realistic to maintain.

My nut did not allow me to count calories, i only know it because i was tracking it in myfitnesspal.

Same here. We shouldn't count calories. I'm supposed to take in 100-120 g of Protein daily (based on activity level) and match the Water intake and take the supplements. Otherwise no special instructions.

Hello, I'm pre-op BUT I've had multiple spinal fusions and lost loads of hair with each one. My surgeon said it's from the trauma. So it's not one thing causing it but rather everything. The body drops the hair and focuses nutrients to healing and such. IMHO and experience I believe it to be true. I had no weight loss just extreme trauma due to the nature of my surgeries. It always grew back but oddly enough it grew back straight gray!! Just my two cents :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
