Isabella 4 Posted September 7, 2007 Hey, i had the surgery done in January and before then i could enjoy extremely spicy foods... now i find that i can't handle it at all! Can anyone else relate, or is it just me? lol :sick
ta337 0 Posted September 9, 2007 I'm Cajun and used to be able to eat food so spicy that other Cajuns couldn't tolerate it. Since the band, I can't tolerate it at all anymore! I was sad at first, but then came to appreciate other flavors. I also never had heartburn a day in my life. A little word to the wise, get some generic "acid reducer." I got mine at Dollar General and now, if I wake up with heartburn, I just pop one and it's done.

Biggest Loser 0 Posted September 16, 2007 I live in New Mexico and spicy is the norm here. I took it very cautious at first, only trying little bits but never had a problem. I was surprised because I had heartburn often before my band but haven't had it at all since. I am sure its different for everyone though.

I, too, live in New Mexico and havent had a hard time with spicy food or chile. Thank goodness!! I was worried I would! Cant live without my chile! :huh2:
Jachut 487 Posted October 26, 2010 Its fickle but at times I have discomfort with spicy foods - they just give me heartburn. Wine burns too, I need to line my stomach with something to eat before I have a glass of wine. it must be the increased contact with the upper part of your stomach and esophagus (as the food sits there for a while) that is the cause. Cali Sal 0 Posted October 26, 2010 Oh man I would die, I was even putting Tapatio in my broth 2 days after surgery, haha.
zandile100 0 Posted October 26, 2010 Totally the opposite for me, I have started enjoying spicier foods more after surgery! I think it is because my bites are so small that there is not much flavor in each bite so I like foods with more potent flavor. Before surgery I would take like 1/4cup bites and now I take pencil eraser size bites.
