liquid diet starts Tuesday, suggestions?

Keep it simple and stay busy. Your surgeon should be giving you a list of what you can have. Good luck!

I was told sugar free Jello and popsicle

Most people do but my surgeon didn't allow those till the night before surgery since I was told only Breakfast and lunch shake that day then clear till midnight. Unlike most I was allowed full liquids as soon as I got home and pureed food starting day 8.

Pre-op diets can vary significantly. Follow your program and stick with it. Not only is this to help prepare your body for a safer surgery - but it also helps to prepare your mind for post-op. Learn to deal with the head hunger and cravings now - it will make post-op easier. Take it one day (or even one hour) at a time. Have things you can have handy at all times. Don't go too long without having something - or you'll be more apt to grab something easy and off plan. Most can have broth - I suggest making your own or at least flavoring boxed/canned broth (boil with onions, celery, carrots, garlic, salt & pepper, paprika, etc). Find distractions if you are having cravings - go for a walk, clean closets, read, etc. If you are hungry - have something on plan. Stay strong - it's worth it in the long run to stick with the pre-op diet.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
